Spotlight Staff: 2024- 2025
Our staff is simply the best! It takes a team of dedicated, loving and talented teachers and assistants to make each and every class at Spotlight a success. Many Spotlight teachers grew up in our studio and went through our program themselves. One of our biggest joys is to see the impact our amazing staff has on younger generations of Spotlight dancers and how each generation pushes the next to be even better than those who came before them. We are family!

Spotlight Teacher Bios
Lindsay Brandon: Lindsay has been involved with Spotlight for over 15 years, and she currently teaches the Tuesday 3 & 4 year old class. Lindsay brings a history of dance herself and shares her passion in hopes to encourage the young to continue forward with a love for dance too. She began her dance career at Sandra Brewer’s Dance Studio when she was 5 through the age of 18. She was part of a variety of dance styles: ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and musical theatre to name a few. This is where she initially met both Dede and Lindsay as teachers and dance colleagues. She later became a part of dance teams in both middle school and high school. Lindsay also danced competitively for both the studio and school, winning numerous individual and group awards - with the most notable attending the National Dance Alliance (NDA) competition her senior year with her high school team and receiving 19th place in the Nation! She went on to take dance classes in college. Shortly after graduating college, Lindsay began her teaching career at Spotlight (2008) teaching 3–7-year-olds, and even participating herself in some of the jazz and hip-hop classes, and now participates in Staff routines. With her daughter now dancing competitively with Spotlight, she couldn't be prouder and be more overjoyed to be going through the motions all over again with her. Lindsay can’t imagine not having dance in her life, and teaching at Spotlight has certainly helped fill that cup. She is so proud of all the dancers she has taught, and those that continue to dance and teach today!
Alana Carpenter: Alana has studied dance in the Flint area since the age of 5 and has danced in several companies throughout her career. She has competed and danced with Spotlight since the first year in 2003 as a member of the Red Company and was honored to be the 2nd Spotlight Dancer of the Year. Alana was an assistant coach and choreographer for Bentley High School’s dance team in 2008 and with the Grand Blanc High School’s Varsity Pom team as an assistant coach and competition choreographer from 2009-2011. Alana has been a proud member of Spotlight’s teaching staff for 20 years and has received many awards, both regionally and nationally. Alana’s Junior Team “Nerds” brought home a National Title in the summer of 2023. Alana teaches Mini Team, Jr Team, Elite Team, 789’s, Adagio, Blue Company & White Company along with doing choreography for Red Company and Funkdafied as well. Alana is married with two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Amelia, and she is very honored to be a part of Spotlight’s teaching staff and part of the Spotlight family.
Quinn Hilliker: Quinn started dancing at the age of 4 and has been competitively dancing since the age of 10. She was crowned our 2021 Spotlight Dancer of the Year as a graduating senior from Grand Blanc High School. Quinn has assisted every class at the studio at least once over the years and currently teaches/choreographs Red, White, and Blue company tap along with many award winning solo, duo/trio and small group tap routines including Tapestry & Teen Tapestry. Quinn is so grateful for the opportunities that DeCamp’s Spotlight has granted her, and she cannot wait to continue teaching dance in the future.
Emileigh Jasman: Emileigh has been dancing since the age of 4, and at age 11 started dancing on a competitive dance team. Emileigh began dancing at Spotlight in 2010, competing with Red Company and Funkdafied. Emileigh has competed in regional and national competitions and Spotlight gave her many opportunities to learn from some of the top choreographers at conventions. Emileigh currently teaches our Wednesday 3 & 4’s and 5, 6 & 7 year old dancers, and she is so happy to be part of the amazing teaching staff here at Spotlight!
Kim Kallas: Kim’s love of dance started at the age of 3, and she has trained in both the Cecchetti and Vaganova methods of Ballet. Kim was a member of The Flint Ballet Theatre Company auditioning at the age of 8 and continued to train and perform with the company into her teens. As a young teen she began a career at Sandra Brewer’s Dance Studio in Davison where she performed in recitals, Christmas at Whiting as well as many dance competitions. At Sandy’s she eventually became a teacher, Dance Director, Choreographer and also continued her love of dancing and performing well into her adult years. Kim has received top awards in The Michigan Ballroom Competitions with her amazing dance partners and earned top awards at dance competitions for performance and choreography throughout the state. She loves that she can share her experiences, training, and love of Ballet with her students at Spotlight. “I am so grateful that Miss Lindsay and Miss Dede invited me to be a part of Spotlight. Happy Season 22 to a fabulous family of dancers, choreographers, and teachers.”
Sophia Mervenne: Sophia has been dancing since the age of 5 and has been competitively dancing since the age of 8. She was crowned our 2019 Spotlight Dancer of the Year during her graduating year from Davison High School. Sophia was a 4-year member of the Grand Valley State University Laker Dance Team from 2019-2023. During her time on the Laker Dance Team, she acquired 4 national championships. Since graduating from GVSU, she has gained experience in teaching, choreographing and judging dance across the country. Sophia currently teaches our company dancers and choreographs solos, duos and small groups for the competition season. She is thrilled to be back at her home studio and teaching her students the lessons she learned on and off the stage! She has recently taken the position of Assistant Coach for the GVSU Laker Team and is so excited to assist her alma mater while staying connected to the studio and her students.
Kacy Perry: Kacy began dancing at the age of 3 and has yet to stop! At 8 she began competing across Michigan, as well as taking lessons from Dede DeCamp. At 15, Kacy began teaching dance for a local Kiwanis summer program. She also performed with Clio Cast and Crew on summer breaks. After graduating high school she taught at a dance studio as well as a high school dance team while attending MSU. This season Kacy taught 10 & Up Ballet and Tap, 7,8,9 Ballet and Tap, Tuesday and Saturdays 5,6 & 7’s classes and Saturday 3&4s class. She also choreographed a White Company tap trio and a White Company solo this competition season. When she isn’t dancing Kacy is a busy mom of 3.
Hailee Ridgeway: Hailee started dancing at the age of 4 and started at Spotlight at 5. She started dancing competitively for Spotlight at the age of 10. Dancing for Spotlight has given her so many opportunities in the world of dance and has allowed her to build so many friendships through the years. Hailee graduated from Davison in 2022 where she then got an associate’s in business management at Mott community college and went on to go to cosmetology school and now does hair in Davison. Without dance she would not have learned the discipline and commitment skills needed in the future. Hailee assisted many classes through her high school years and is now back and teaching jazz and hip hop for the 10 & up class as well as doing choreography for solos and duo/trios this competition season. She loves the Spotlight family she’s built through the years and is so happy to be back!
